InsuredRight is run by InsuredRight. We are the data controller for the information on this page. Contact us at hello@insuredright.co.uk.
Policy documents you upload
What: the PDF you choose, and the summary we make from it. Insurance documents can include names, addresses, policy numbers and sometimes health information. We don't ask for any of that, and our reader is told not to copy names, addresses, policy numbers, dates of birth or medical details into the summary.
Why, and our lawful basis: to show you what your policy says, because you asked us to. Where a document contains health information, we rely on your explicit consent, which you give with the tickbox before uploading.
How: the file is virus-checked on our server, then sent to Anthropic, whose AI model Claude reads it and returns the facts. Anthropic processes it for us under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models. Anthropic is in the United States, so the file leaves the UK, with the safeguards UK data protection law requires for that transfer.
How long: the file is deleted as soon as it has been read, and in any case within 24 hours. The summary is kept at a private link for 30 days so you can come back to it, then deleted. You can delete it sooner with the button on the summary page.
The cover questionnaire
Your answers (age band, household, home, work and the cover you hold) don't identify you. They're kept at a private link for 30 days, then deleted.
Asking to talk to an adviser
What: your name, email, phone number if you give it, the kinds of cover you ticked, your message, and, only if you tick the box, your policy summary or questionnaire answers.
Why, and our lawful basis: to introduce you, with your consent, to MML Law, a Scottish law firm based in Dundee, who introduce you to Scott Fyffe Wealth Management Ltd, an FCA-regulated financial adviser. They become controllers of what we pass them and will give you their own privacy notice. We keep a record of the exact consent you gave and when.
Kinds of cover our partner doesn't arrange (home, car, van, landlord, pet, travel, business liability): we keep your details and contact you if we find a partner, and ask you before passing them to anyone.
How long: two years from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Early access sign-ups
Your name, email, the option you picked and your message, used only to tell you about InsuredRight. Delete them any time by emailing us.
Who else handles data for us
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server the site and its database live on.
- Bunny.net, our content delivery network, which carries traffic to the site.
- Postmark (ActiveCampaign), which sends our emails.
- Anthropic, as above, for reading uploaded documents.
We keep a one-way hash of your IP address and your browser's user-agent with forms and uploads, to stop abuse.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw consent at any time, or object to how we use it. Email hello@insuredright.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
