How we work
Straight answers about
what we do.
What we do
InsuredRight helps you understand insurance: what your own policy says, what different kinds of cover are for, and why claims get paid or refused. We do that with plain-English guides, a free policy check, and a short questionnaire that maps your cover against your life.
What we don't do
We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. We don't sell insurance, arrange it, or tell you which policy to buy, keep or cancel. When you want a recommendation, that comes from a regulated adviser.
Introductions to an adviser
If you ask, we pass your details to MML Law, a Scottish law firm based in Dundee, who introduce you to Scott Fyffe Wealth Management Ltd, an FCA-regulated financial adviser. They arrange protection cover: life insurance, critical illness, income protection, mortgage protection and business protection. Nothing is passed on unless you tick the box that names them.
How we're paid. We may be paid for an introduction. The terms are being finalised, and we'll set out here exactly how it works before any introduction is made. Being paid for introductions never changes what the policy check or the guides say: they're written to the same rules either way.
How we write the guides
- Every rule, limit, tax point and statistic comes from a primary source: the FCA, the Financial Ombudsman Service, MoneyHelper, gov.uk and HMRC, legislation, or the ABI. The sources are listed at the bottom of each guide, with the date we checked them.
- Where Scotland does things differently (trusts, succession, the courts), we say so.
- We don't name or rank insurers, publish prices, or invent examples presented as real people.
- We use AI tools to help research and draft, and every guide is checked against its sources before it's published.
- Each guide shows when it was last updated. Spotted something wrong or out of date? Email hello@insuredright.co.uk and we'll fix it.
How the policy check works
Your PDF is virus-checked, then read by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic). It returns what the document says about cover, exclusions, conditions, limits and dates, each with the page and the exact wording. We then check every quoted line against the text of that page, and mark any we couldn't find. The file is deleted as soon as it's read. Full detail in our privacy notice.
It can make mistakes, especially with scanned documents. It never tells you whether a policy is good or right for you.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with anything we've done, email hello@insuredright.co.uk and tell us what happened. A complaint about advice you received goes to the adviser firm, which will explain its own complaints process, including your right to go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
